It’s not very often you get an opportunity like this; ride a V8 Sand Dragger! Well, when Hoss from Hossstyle Cycles told me, Magoo and Jonesy to come out to his property for a day, we all gracefully accepted. So there we were all having a bit of fun joking about riding the big beast until Hoss fired it up and did a quick test run. Let’s just say the three of us went silent and the joking soon stopped. The time had come to stand up and be counted, only problem was, we were all a little reluctant to go first.
A quick check of the track, okay we had no idea what we were checking, but it still gave us a little extra moment for preperation, and it was soon decision time. So with a deep breath, I grabbed my helmet, threw on my jacket and walked in the direction of the starting line. Hoss already had it idling and ready to go, although I think my heart was idling a little quicker than the V8 by this stage. Throwing a leg over a motorcycle powered by a Chevy Small Block motor that after some work pumps out a mind-warping 715hp, the apprehension soon turns to exhilaration. And once the first run was under the belt for each of us, from then on it was just a shitload of fun!
Okay, so my couple of runs weren’t enough to make Hoss raise an eyebrow, and I didn’t show enough potential to warrant any team offers, but it was all in good fun.
